About the Foundation
The California Tax Foundation is dedicated to serving the public through education and research. Founded in 1980 by the California Taxpayers Association (CalTax), the Foundation seeks to improve public policy through thoughtful and independent non-partisan research. Since 1980, the Foundation has won several national research awards, and been recognized for its research excellence.
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization funded through grants and generous donations from taxpayers. While established by CalTax, it is its own separate entity. It does not take or support positions on any ballot measures or on any local, state, or federal legislation, nor does it endorse, support, or oppose any political parties or candidates for public office.
