The California Tax Foundation is dedicated to promoting sound tax policy and government efficiency through education and research. Founded in 1980 by the California Taxpayers Association, the CalTax Foundation has won several national research awards, and been recognized for its research excellence.

The CalTax Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization funded through grants and generous donations from taxpayers. While established by the California Taxpayers Association, it is its own separate entity. It does not take positions on state or local ballot measures, or local, state, or federal legislation. The CalTax Foundation also does not endorse, support, or oppose any political parties or candidates for public office.
